A Note From The Innkeepers

All of a sudden Fall is here! We had our first frost last week and that was just enough to tell the trees it was time to get out their beautiful autumn apparrel.

let it snow!

The hills across from us are bursting with reds, oranges and yellows. A drive in either direction on Rt. 2 gives you a chance to see wide expanses of color and golden fields with fresh mowed hay.

Drive through Groton State Forest, walk up Owl's Head, hike Spruce Mt. in Plainfield—everywhere you turn there is color.

It's not too late to kayak on local ponds and lakes, or simply walk some local dirt roads to explore our many historic cemeterys.

Looking for Vermont tastes? Cabot Creamery is a 15 mintue drive or visit Willow Moon Farm for some artisinal goat cheese and to visit with the new baby goats. Hit the Montpelier Farmer's Market on Saturday morning for a smorgasbord of local meats, breads, sweets and veggies.

Interested in local beers? Find your way to Positive Pie for some hearty food and their great range of local brews. Of course, Hill Farmstead is on tap!
